Well folks I am a new Excursion owner & another newbie. She is a 2002 7.3l Powerstroke w/150,000 miles. As we are all painfully aware diesel has gone back up ($3.76/gallon in GA). I bought this EX from the original owner a 76 y.o. man who was selling her to get a truck. I had her checked out at a diesel shop I use & she got a clean bill of health.

So, what can I do for this stock EX to raise my mileage. I have only taken 1 trip & did not hand calculate mileage, but relied on lieometer. It was showing 19-19.5. I drove her 65-70 mph.

What about a chip for starters? Who makes the best tune for mileage? Help me out folks.

 

if your getting 19-19.5 out of it your getting bout the best you can get. to get any better would need to get custom tunes via a ts 6 position ship or sct programmer

 

You are doing pretty well!

Besides a chip, you can use synthetic oil and also use a diesel additive to help with cetane and fuel system cleaning.

 

Geez, you guys are lucky with the price of fuel, we pay $5.32 per gallon for diesel here in Australia
