well It sounds to me like your TC or the front pump are shot..... either way your gonna be pulling a trans out and doing some repairs........ there not really all that hard to do, you can get a book on how to rebuild your transmission.... you'll need to get a few specialty tools.... inner snap ring pliers, outer snap ring pliers, couple of small hooks, and a good clean place to re-build it all as close to dust free as possible....... not hard just time consuming...... if your willing to do the work its quite rewarding.... done a few my self...

Taking it out is easy just clock the mlps on the side. And rebuilding it is easier said than done. Buy a shift kit they come with new and upgraded snap ring for the drums. Sandals make sure you spline the convertor twice if not you'll break the front pump

Take the passenger side door off, pull the carpet off floor board( might need to remove the seat if its a bench seat) pull the dog house cover bolts out and put your engine hoist on the fathest reach, put in the passenger side dooe using a chain ( gonna be about 1000 pounds or so if 4x4) wrap one loop around the transfer case and one loop around the bell housing leaving plenty of room to drop trans and transfer case on ground through the dog house cover )in some cases at the highest point you will be close to the windshield so be careful) then un bolt the cross member and lower trans and transfercase down ( this helps to get to the bolts on the upper bell housing) then make sure your TC bols are un-bolted, and pull in away from the motor and lower the complete unit on ground......... you will need to jack up truck if its low, I lowered the entire unit on some cardboard and used a comealong to pull out from under the truck..... then you will need a clean area to pull the trans apart..... If I was you I would take the entire unit to the trans shop and have them test the transmission as they can determine weather or no its the TC or the front pump, or its just shot...... your choice... they might give you some insite.... rember when taking apart .... set everything in the order in wich it came apart.other wise you'll be guessing........
