Over Drive Light on 7.3 Automatic
I just had a reconditioned transmission put in my 1994 7.3 f 250, the truck has been running good for about two months but I recently took it back to the dealership and they said it was low on fluid....however I took it to another mechanic prior to that for an unrelated problem to the transmission and when I got it back the trans seemed to shift funny to me and the overdrive light on the shift column is now blinking, the ford dealership did not mention anything about the blinking light but as I said they put fluid in it and said those models do shift hard in forward and reverse. I was also told I had bad valve cover leaks, fuel line leaks and power steering leaks.......I took the truck back home and when I checked the parking spot where the truck sleeps....there are no spots in the driveway anywhere !
man, its hard to find a good mechanic, it seems like I have to play investigator everytime I deal with getting my truck fixed. any ideas why the overdrive light blinks ?
Oh, the overdrive button still works .

There is more than one fuse in the fuse box that will throw your E4OD into limp mode, which is what is happening when your OD light is flashing. The #17 and #18 fuse will do it also. There are also about a zillion other little stupid non important electrical issues that the factory transmission computer reads and wants you to know about so it throws the transmission into limp mode. I also have a 94 F250 with an E4OD and it was absolutely driving me nuts with stupid crap like this. I finally gave up and spent 630 bucks on an Optishift controller to replace the factory transmission computer and I'm pretty sure that was the best 630 bucks I've ever spent! It's like I have a new transmission!
