Ive looked at ATS, how much are they going for? i didnt see a price, are theyre injectors good too? my trucks gonna need new ones and they want 95 a peice at napa for stock replacement, but ats has 40hp+ injectors for 500 a set

Also can a Powerstroke exhaust system for a 95 reg cab lwb fit my truck? and the guys at napa told me they didnt see any difference in injectors for a powerstroke and the IDI, is this true?

banks no longer makes their sidewinder turbo kit for the idi but ats does and theres is a wastegated turbo which means u can turn boost up or down. hypermax also makes a kit for the idi engines however it puts out about 12 psi max and is not adjustable in boost pressure. they also make intercooler kits for these engines. which is very easy to install however with a little work u can put any intercooler u want on the truck seein as how u can put the turbo any place u so choose. if u r going for a turbo u might as well go with an intercooler because these idi's have cast iron blocks which will not hold much heat if u run much over 1200 degrees very long u will essentialy melt the engine down so cooling egt's is recommended. there is a company that makes quality injectors for the idi i belive they are called dps diesel performance this guy they call moose knows exactly what he is doing n can help u out. as for the powerstroke turbo unless u have lots of money to beef ur engine up to hold that boost dont bother with it. injectors r diffrent as well close but diffrent. good luck man ne other questions just ask we r all here to help

another piece of advise neverlisten to ne body at an aou parts store. these engines arent that poular ne more n they seem to know nothing about them. talk to somone that owns an has done work on one or a mechanic that knows what he is doing not the teenagers behind the counter who are good at fooling people.

Hahah im only a teenager myself :P Well it seems to be alot of work and money to put a turbo on these, How better off am I if i swap to a powerstroke and keep my 5 speed. I can get the truck really cheap. Seems like more power to begin with and less money invested

so what are you planing on doing now? swaping a psd turbo onto it is alot of work, will be all custom. nothing interchanges between the PSD and an IDI cept the oil cooler and filter.

ats NO LONGER makes turbo kits for the idi engine. what they have left is all that they have. banks still makes the sidewinder kit, and hypermax makes their kit. used kits can be found for less than a grand, just make sure it is a complete kit, as getting parts for them can be tricky. new hypermax go for 1800 or so, and are non wastegated. banks go for 2200+ new and are wastegated.

as for injectors, who ever you get them from, make sure they pop test them first and make sure the pop pressures are within 100 psi of eachother. DPS injectors are hit and miss with quality, and Mel, who was already mentiond here as MOOSE, can only be found on Oilburners.net. his handle there is angem. i just got all brand new bb codes from him with a return line kit for 400 bucks.

to put the entire PSD into your 88 is a project, but has been done. will need to swap the dash and then harness from the PSD into your truck.

How hard is swapping the harness and dash? and how different is everything fuel related?

will need the lift pump from the psd, but unsure on lines. but if you have a donor, why not use every bit you can.

dash will bolt in.... sorta. u will need everything. steering column, dash, dash pad, everything behind the dash. pretty much putting the PSD interior into the older cab.

all ford cabs were the same from 1980 til 1997. very small differences as in the wing windows and the firewall holes for the wiring. some have cut out the needed firewall and grafted into other cabs to get the correct holes.

How hard is it to take a 4x4 1/2 ton f150 and put the same generation 3/4 ton running gear under it?
