Nope, no tach.yesterday I was looking at the truck and when I reved it up high i seen smoke white ish in color, and while on the road today it felt like it was running out of fuel, but only in second gear which makes no sense, this was the first I felt it and it happened after I added the additive to the fuel. I'm gonna order a new filter tomorrow and start small, also it looks like I might have two filters on the fuel system, only aftermarket looking one on the drivers side firewall, and the one on the bracket on the motor, or is the one on the firewall stock as well.

firewall is stock, thats your water seperator. do not touch it! thery are known to leak and let air into the sytem. if possible replace it with an aftermarket fuel water seperator. napa sells them.

when was the last time your truck was timed?

I'd have better luck guessing the loto numbers then guessin when this truck was maintained, I got it from morons and they had it for six years, the owner before them used it for pulling trailers as per what I'm told. If the water separator on the firewall is leaking air would that cause my problem? I don't see fuel leaking out of It thats for sure, I do have a small leak at the return fitting on two injectors, the rear two passenger side.

Thanks for the input guys.

get a return line kit and fix them leaks. they could cause it. kits are sold online for around 30 bucks.

how many miles are on it again? the factory injection pump and injectors are only good for 100000-120000 miles. after that they start to loose it.

it has 323 000 km on the clock thats about 201 000 miles, you really feel the ip and injectors have that short of a shelf life?

yea, if they are original, they are worn out. get a new set of injectors and injection pump put on it and will run 100 times better. sometimes it amazes me how much power is lost once a new pump and injectors are on it.

pump and injectors can be installed yourself, but the pump will need to be timed by a diesel timing meter. most good diesel shops can do it.

well before i swallow that bill i'm gonna start small, i have the injector kit coming in a hour or so, so i'll solve the fuel leak on two injectors and change the filter remove the air filter and hope for the best, if that doesn't solve anything i'm off to a local diesel shop thats highly recomended and see what kind of crap he has to say, is it a pain in the **** to get the pump timed?

not with the meter. same as a gasser. instead of turning the distributer, u turn the injection pump.

Not impressed........ pulled the return Lines off changed the hoses and o rings and the fittings, put It all back together and hoped for the best, well she fired right up, I didn't change the filter yet I wanted to run it so I knew there was no air I let it Idle and reved it a couple times then let it idle again then it shut itself off, Damn there is air, lossen the lines then try to bleed, no fuel, just air, run the batteries down....... yeah for me, leave it charge for a bit, come back open the bleeder on the fuel filter housing....... crank again no fuel, pull the inlet fuel line from the lift pump and crank....... no fuel, pressurized the tank........ no fuel, pull the inlet line off the water separator pressurized the tank..... fuel comes out.........lift pump looks old as hell....... did my lift pump just crap out on me, and could this have been my problem the whole time, not enough fuel being sent to the Injector pump..........this diesel is really trying my nervs............
