I have a 1984 f250 4x4 6.9 with a 4 speed and only 150,000 on it. I just did headgaskets and still need to do an oil cooler but I want to look into puting a turbo on it. the motor does knock every now and then but since it comes and goes I dont think its a rod knock and maybe something in the valve train. Im not sure. before I turbo it should I do head studs because it is my daily driver I drive about 60 mi a day and I need it to be reliable. I want to turbo it because like most 6.9s its pretty gutless when hooked to a trailor and I have a camper for it as well and I want some more power when towing and in altitude situations. I would like to know how reliable everyones truck have been with turbos and how much you like them or dislike them. just looking for some info is all. thank you mike.

 

i love mine. 210000 on it and turbo screams. lots more power for in the mud.
