91 tach

Got a 91 7.3 with 128K on it. It runs great but the tach only reads when you are accelerating. At idle it sits on zero. Anybody got any ideas where I need to start looking?

tach sensor chep58, i have a 91 same issue. ford stealership only part, about $70.

by the way, its on the IP gear case, the bolt looking thing that has two wires coming out of it, next to the oil cap

i had the same problem on my 92 idi turbo. its the giant bolt thing with two black wires commin out the top. its in front of the injector pump, above the chain for the pump. its like 70 bucks
