Late IDI N/A or Factory Turbo?
Hey guys, I've been thinking about selling my 6.9 (yes, even though I just bought it like a month ago) and getting a late IDI(92-94) or a PSD if I find a really good deal I can swing. If a deal that good on a PSD comes along I'll take it over an IDI. Anyway, I've heard to stay away from the IDIs that have the factory turbo. I've heard the story of Ford telling ATS to make the turbo basically a fake display unit and not very functional by welding little bumps inside the housing so it wouldn't make as much power as the 460(at the time). Is there anything I need to know before choosing between N/A or turbo-ed truck? Just trying to do some research before I buy something and end up with a bucket of bolts, I've been there before*cough dodge cough* and I'm sure others have too. Thanks for any help.
The 92-97 body style is my #1 fav and plus I miss my bumper that I built(won't fit my truck without completely redesigning the mounts).

The factory turbo is ok, it's the down pipe that really kills the power though. If you get a factory turbo truck, call ATS and order the downpipe kit that comes with a new outlet housing and a 3" mandrel bent down pipe. The ford downpipe looks as though it were runover by a forklift. The turbo injectors suck as well, so just get a set of new pressure matched injectors(anything but G codes) and you will be good to go.
