Default Ne one know how much my truck is worth??

Hi everyone, I was thinking about selling my IDI and putting that money towards buying a newer powersroke or a cummins but i was just wondering if anyone could tell me about what my truck would be worth if i did decide to sell it. Its an 86 6.9 reg cab long bed, it has a banks turbo kit on it with straight piped 3 inch exhaust, the IP is turned up. The truck only has 146,000 miles on it and runs really really strong. i have full gauges inside, oil temp, oil pressure, water temp, trans temp, EGT, boost. the interrior is in really good condition no cracks in the dash or anything. I have picks in my profile. thanks to all.

Depends on the shape of the truck too. Looks to me like that truck is in great shape. I'd say keep it. Lol If not 4000-5500. Nice truck.

It looks like a really nice truck and the old idi engines are tough old engines. The problem with them is it is had to find people that want them. If you find some one who wants one I would say its worth around $4000 but if it where me I would keep it they are just good old trucks but then again I never sell any thing.

alright thanks man, i have loved this truck from the day i bought it its just time for me to udate to something that rides better and something i can get more power out of. I have a pretty messed up back so the really stiff suspension doesn't make it very fun to drive. and i'm still open to anyone elses opinion on the subject. thanks again

That is a good looking truck, low mileage and good mods to boot. Unfortunately the market for these trucks isn't great, everyone wants a powerstroke or a cummins. While the truck may be worth $4k you could be waiting a long time for the right buyer to come along and pay that much. Theses old IDI's usually go for $800-$2500 out here. There are a few nice ones asking more, but I also see them getting reposted weeks and months later. Ebay or another nationally recognized classifieds magazine/website would be your best bet for getting the most for your truck.

yeah i've noticed they don't go for alot...but i just figured if i can get a decent amount for it then i will sell it and put that towards a newer diesel but if i can't get enough to make it worth getting rid of then i will just keep it and buy another diesel anyway. i would rather just sell it because i have to many cars as it is and i dont' need to add to it .I just moved to utah from idaho and i have only seen one IDI diesel here

Thats exactly the problem with the old idi diesels. If you find somebody that wants it its worth a lot but to most people they will give you $1500 for it and I find it hard to part with a good 4wd diesel truck for that price.

yeah i understand that now . i will prolly just keep it for now, i have enough money for a decent powerstroke or maybe a cummins i just have to decide wich direction i want to go.....it will probably take me a little while to think about it and do some reasearch on both of them to figure it out. any opions on that subject is welcome as well anything to make it a little easier for me to decide....thanks guys

Well as a non bias to Ford or Dodge out sider (yea I'm more of a Chevy guy) if you are planing on driving or slightly modifying the truck ether one is fine. I'm looking at a 7.3 Excursion for my wife right now and if your going to go with a power stroke I personally would go with a 7.3 Power Stroke. There just a tough old diesel that doesn't seam to have any real problems unlike some of the newer PSD's. They say you can fix the problems without to much work or money but if I'm going to spend that kind of money on a truck I don't want to be fixing it wright away. My money tree hasn't started to grow yet.
Now on the other hand if you are planing on heavily modifying the engine it's hard to beat a Cummins. The after market is endless for them and they will handle almost anything you throw at them.
With all that being said it really doesn't matter they are both good engines. Me personally I would probably go Ford I just think as a whole truck they are better.
