Need confirmation or atleast some ideas.
1994 7.3 IDI great power starts easy and will run down the road at 75 no prob....however....I removed the radiator cap earlier today and found oil in my water....no water in the oil pan and its not showing any signs of any kind of water in the exhaust. She starts and runs easy no smoke of any kind while running except on initial startup and its grayish white in color.....thinking i may have a head gasket blown.
Any and all thoughts or ideas are welcome.

Ok would that long 2-3 inch diameter tube that runs the length of my engine next to the filter attachement be the oil cooler?

I sincerely apologize to all of you about my ignorance of all things diesel...always owned gas powered trucks until about 7 years ago when i bought this truck....had to have the E4OD rebuilt once and replaced the surpentine belt tensioner twice and the valve cover gaskets once...only probs i have had with her till now. always changed the oil every 3000 miles and the fuel filter twice a year flushed the cooling system twice a year...beyond that absolutely no probs put 100,000 miles on her to date.
So i am a little bit niave and a whole lot worried when i find something not right ecspecially during the hard times when i have no work or income coming in that will cover anything beyond my normal bills.

yes, the tube there is your oil cooler. to remove it u have to undo motor mount, pick engine up, unbolt motormount from engine, slide outa the way. then 8 bolts hold it to the block. drain all coolant outa rad and engine if ur drains in the side of the block still come loose(mine didnt). now that it is out, go to ford or IH and get the 4 orings and 2 gaskets and report back.
there are different ways to rebuild the oil cooler. some right, some wrong and will cause damage. whatever you do, do not try and hammer the end caps back on.
i will try and take some pics with the oil cooler i have laying in my garage. isnt to bad of a job.

Awesome DieselCrawler! Thank you deeply for the info i will have the o-rings and gaskets here in a couple days have to have them shipped to me since the closest dealer or parts house is close to 100 miles away from me. Unless its ok to make the roundtrip to pick them up in which case i could have them here tomorrow.

Thanks Diesel Crawler i'll be on ebay this afternoon looking up the manuals....and i will be waiting for the orings and gaskets to be delivered should be here tomorrow afternoon.
Until then i guess i just read and read.....one bit of advice was given fron another site was to use distilled water and dawn dishwashing liquid in the cooling system for a couple days after i get the repair done then rinse and repeat and it should remove most of the oil from the system....any ideas or thoughts about this?
