Default Need Help

I just bought an 88 F350 with a V8 7.3 and wanting to know the cheapest way to make it produce a little black smoke. Plus I was wondering if anybody knew where I could get a turbo system for it.

You can turn the injection pump up on it (cover is on the side of the injection pump), but I advise that you install one or two pyrometers on it.

first buy a pyrometer so you don't melt your pistonss. Second go and turn up your injector pump about a couple flaps or so till whereever you get the smoke you want but make sure pyrometer never goes over 1450( cause alluminum starts to disstort then) or your in trouble. Then there is over stuff but depends with your price range like the rest of us and for turbos you can buy them either on ebay or craigslist for about 300-800 bucks. ATS makes a awesome aurro 2000 for about $2100 from them direct and I think banks quit making the sidewinder kits for them. Ebay or craigslist or the junkyard is your best bet for low price.

I dont want much smoke. Just a little, where do you suggest I get a pyrometer??? And I would rather stay cheap. It needs a turbo. These old trucks dont produce that much horsepower stock.

ok well I like auto meter you can get one of those at your local parts store(napa kragen, etc. You'll need a pillar pod which holds the gauge or a DIY metal stand for it that hangs on your dash. So thats a option and all that would run about 80 bucks a max depending on the gauge style you want(its easy to install). Ya those trucks do I have one and mine has one but I'm selling it to get a 86 1 to N/A.
