ok with the miles i have on this truck[326000] I think the pump is getting weak [white smoke at idle iradic smoke under power]. Is swaping the pump somthing the that the average guy can do or should i take it to a pro? what would be a good pump yo use and are there any other changes i should make at the same time? also i have been told the mater in my truck is not the original moter but the pump looks older than the rest of the moter. I want to keep moving forward with up grades but i dont want to tear it up either. I would sure appriciate any and all advice

I tried the k&n air filter right before a road trip, it was already oiled in the plastic bag so I put it in and took off down the road for a 6 hr drive. I noticed that I lost about 2 mpg so before the return trip I stopped and bought a stock paper filter and got the mpg back. this was before I found out I could remove that bowl in the housing, would this have made a difference in using that K&N?

If you want a really good pump, you need to go over to oilburners.net in the IDI forum and look for Agnem. He rebuilds and modifies the pumps. They are referred to as moose pumps. He can also do a stock rebuild or a Baby moose pump. He also has Moose misters, custom injectors. I've never changed a pump, but one thing I always hear is not to remove the pump with the upper gear housing. If you do you will be in a world of frustration trying to get the sucker timed right.
