My 1992 F350 7.3 powerstroke won't start
Hi All,
My 7.3 lost its fuel after being parked for several days. I bleed the injectors and got it started again, this was more difficult than it should have been. The next day I went to start the truck it acted the same way, this time I just could not get the fuel up. I replaced the primary/low pressure pump. Still no go, I replaced the injector pump, have fuel coming but still not firing?????????????

its not a powerstroke.....
and yes, check all of your fuel lines.....always check fuel lines, filters and lift pumps before changing an injection pump, well atleast you got a spare lift pump and injection pump now......

I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM AND IT WASNT ANYTHING ANYONE HAS MENTIONED .. IF IT HAS 2 TANKS CHECK THE SWITCH VALVE B/C IF YOU DONT HAVE FUEL IN ONE TANK AND ITS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF SWITCHING IT WILL BRING AIR FROM OTHER TANK BUT STILL GET FUEL TO YOUR INJECTORS
my IDI does a very similar thing but not that severe.... although, i KNOW where the leak is and havent fixed it... a hose clamp has rubbed a hole in the hard line going from the fuel pump on the side of the motor to the filter.....
my point is, check ALL fuel lines.... and ALL connections.....
also check the schrader valve on the fuel filter head. have someone crank the truck and push in the valve until nothing but fuel flows out.
then check all the way to the fuel tanks for cracked lines and as mentioned check the switching valve for the dual tanks

Look at your injestor return lines and injector caps too. This is a know problem area as the o-rings and hoses can go bad over time. Mine are bad and make it hard to start after the trucks been sitting sometimes. It idles very rough too and is a little low on power, I need to get it fixed.
when i bought my 93 it had the two piece filter the bottem piece had a small crack in it. it didnt leak all the time but i havent had any problems since switching to the one piece filter.
