coolant temp sensor for the guage, is on the top LH or drivers side front of the engine. it is a single wire sensor the has a red with white stripe wire on it.

the engine temp sensor for the fast idle, glow plugs is on the top RH or pass side of engine. it is a 2-wire sensor the has a red with light blue stripe, and red with yellow stripe wire on it.

the coolant guage sending unit works off resistance. cold 74ohms and hot 9.7ohms. the connector simply pulls off the sender top. if its unplugged it should read full cold. if you have a jumper wire just ground the wire to the engine or neg batt post then it should read full hot. you can delete this guage and all other guages if you desire to run your own without any problems

Well i like having everyting work on the truck you know. However the gauges would be a little more precise in messuring the desired. not to mention it looks good to and Poser all in the same! LOL

Ditto on JNICEWAN.. The one for the gauge is on the driver's side. The other one is just a temp switch that opens and shuts off the high idle and the advance once the engine warms up. I might add that there are two Temp Senders on the front left of the engine. One in the top block next to the IP drive gear housing that signals the temp Gauge, and one to the left of that in the Cylinder Head for the overheat light. If you want to add an after market gauge you can pull the 3/8" NPT pipe plug from the Water Pump and go into the Water Jacket there. So did your gauge actually ever work? I thought the Water Temp and Oil Pressure gauges were like Idiot Lights with Little Red Needles instead of Bulbs !!!!!!
