Default What do you think? Do I need an intercooler?

Ok guys its time to work the old gray matter here. I bought a new 38' fifth wheel triple axle toy hauler camper. Loaded it will be around 15,000 pounds by its self. I have a 1989 super duty dually, with a 7.3 and new ATS aurora 2000 turbo system intake to exhaust tip. I have a ZF5 speed with 5.13 rear end gears.. Do you think I will need an intercooler ? I pick up the new camper in less than two weeks now, I guess Im a little worried about the motor running too hot with the EGTs...
Anyone here tow as much or more weight with the same type of set up as I have? Im running low on cash so buying an intercooler right now is out of the question for me. Guess Im looking for a little piece of mind, or know what I should expect...

with 5.13 gears it will be a towing SOB, I had 4.56 in a 7.3 IDI 5 speed truck a few years ago, on the freeway it would turn almost 2900 rpm at 60 and at the time I had a 20 minute drive on the freeway every day and that poor motor sounded like it was about ready to come apart BUT that truck would pull ANYTHING we put behind it, even my 53' car hauling trailer with 3 cars. I think you will be fine, kep an eye on the pyro and if she starts getting real hot just drop a gear, but I doubt you will have a problem with 5.13's

5.13 gears????? holy jebus but I would get your self an intercooler I have heard that the early psd coolers work on them with some minor mods. but if you are towing that much what size tires are you running?

seen people fab up intercoolers. do some research but i have heard coolers being used off of 1st and 2nd gen dodges, 7.3psd and 6.0's. i woudnt worry about intercooling 1st. untill you have determined boost pressure and egt under load. it may be easier to trim fuel or boost to a lower level vs cac.

I went and got my new 38' fifth wheel toy hauler camper today. I was worried about how the truck was going to do. I hooked up and all I can say is OH MY GOD!!! This truck is now an animal! Never has this truck pulled like this! I love this turbo set up... On a long hill at 60 mph it got up to 1000F but it never went over that. Most times it ran around 600* to 700* on flat land. Now I know it had an out side temp today of 65* to 70*F so I know on the 80* degree days it will run a little warmer. Im going to get an inter cooler the first chance I can jut to help on real warm days.
As for the boost Im running its most of the time at about 6 to 7 pounds but when I throw the coal to it and pulling a hill it will get up to 10 pounds.
I'm happy for sure
