There are a lot of variables. What kind of tranny does it have?

A good running IDI in that truck should pump out 17+mpg. But like I said, there are a lot of variables (bad IP/injectors, how fast your driving, ect...)

I would equate that to a bad fuel system. The IP generally lasts around 100K miles, injectors around the same. With 140K miles, it could be that both of those items are stock, and are far gone.

It does seem like 7.3 IDI's get worse fuel economy compared to 6.9 IDI's. My truck will get better than some 7.3 IDI's, and there truck will have an overdrive. Thats just me though.

Like I said, it should get mid to upper teens if in good running order.

went and looked at it last night. they are going to do the trade. the truck has im guessin 190000miles. the enngine is one out of a junk yard. it has an injector that is leaking a little. the brake pedal has to be pulled back up. the automatic transmission was rebuilt in 2002 and since this guy got it in the later part of 02 he has put less than 10000 miles on it. all in all i think my dad is going to be coming out ahead. the tractor is an old ford gas tractor.has a front bucket and a back hoe. it aint as big as our kubota. not as good of shape but it will be worth the trade. thanks again for the info.
