Default Installing pyro in wrong spot?

Hello I just installed a pyro in my 89 7.3 idi n/a. I installed the probe on the drives side in the middle of the manifold. After driving it it idles at 400 and really doesn't move up much driving unless I step on the pedal or give her a good go then I could get up to 950 or so. Is this right? Would the readings not read till a lot higher rpms?

It shouldn't move a whole lot if your pump is stock. Try climbing a hill, that should get it moving. Don't let it get past 1200, pistons start melting.
