transmission problems
#2
Check your linkage maybe worn and it's jammed. Jack your truck up block the front wheel first disconnect the linkage rods at the transmission then TAP on the shifter plate with a hammer it should pop on out of gear then you will need to inspect the rods and see if there are any worn areas check the bushings they are prone to wear! If this does not work then you are looking at rebuilding or replacing the transmission. You can drain the oil from the transmission and look for a lot of filings you could get a shrive or make one from window screen and run the oil through that and see what it catches. A lot of contaminant mean a lot of wear. Unless you have a lift or an oil pit you are going to get that stuff (Oil) all over you so be prepared as most of the time you have to drop the transmission pan to drain it you will need to find a large tub (A baby bath tub works good) of some kind to catch the oil your oil drain pan will not work that good. I have taken more than one bath in gear lube!
