yes ... might as well you have contaminated the dryer ... add a few OZ's of oil to your new one ... put it all together and then vac the system ... let it set @ vac to verify no leaks and then fill ..... hope nothing has clogged the Expansion valve or you will have to repete the drain and buy a exp. valve and then re vac the system and so on ....

Ok. Put in new accumulator, old one spilled like 2 pints of oil out upon removal, took system down to vacuum and let sit for 15 min. Closed valves on manifold, connected a/c can to low side. Started filling system and started truck. Added 44oz like is called for and still getting same pressures as before. High side goes between 100-150psi and low side goes from 30-50psi and kicks compressor on. Bypassed low side switch to keep compressor on and still didn't get cold. Low side eventually dropped to 10psi while doing this and high side got up to 400psi and popped a seal on my manifold hose fitting. Could this be my expansion valve now? While looking up parts I saw a filter/drier for my truck. Looks to be about the same size as the accumulator but has just two 1/4" fittings on it. Can't find it on my truck, only seen it for sale online. All y'all's help is getting me closer so anything else will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. God this is so frustrating.

Thanks brotha, always seeing the light in the dark. Do you know where the orifice should be on my truck? I grabbed one of those too, only $2-3 and figured why not. Parts guy told me that the filter/drier is probably for dealer installed a/c and that my accumulator is my drier also. Ya I remembered what you said and when I bypassed the sensor and saw the pressure I was too pissed and frustrated to look at the good like you said my compressor should kick *** for awhile.

Now is the orifice and the expansion valve do the same thing? The parts guy told me he had a '90 bronco and the expansion valve was by the heater core, but I was thinking of putting a new orifice in too, but can't find where that would go since I've had just about every line cracked open on this B!+€h and didn't see an orifice filter.

Found where the orifice tube went, replaced it, but still couldn't fine the expansion valve. So I figured why would they have two different metering parts. Swapped out the orifice tube charged it up and works great. And the danged orifice filter was beyond nasty. All clumped up with goo and a couple chunks of what looked to be Teflon tape. Thank y'all for all the help. finally got some ac in that b!7€h. Also swapped out my heater core since I would catch a whiff of anti freeze every once in a while and would get the fog on my windshield but never saw any water on the floorboard or did it seem like my radiator seem to lower. Core didn't look good when I pulled it out so it must have been a small leak. And didn't see an expansion valve.?
