Holset HX55
What's up guys. A buddy of mine just offered to sell his hx55 holset turbo from his cummins. I was looking to put it on my 94 f250 idi turbo diesel.
So my question is: if I put the turbo on my truck, what all other upgrades would I have to do so I wouldn't blow up my engine or harm my truck at all??

That turbo would blow ur heads off under load ...... way too much turbo ...... these engins are reliable daily under 10 psi ..... go over that and its a crap shoot all best no matter ones opinion the facts are the these engines are not really boost able ... to much of a degree by design flaws if u will

I wouldn't be turning the boost up past 9 lbs. I know those turbos are able to go close to 60 lbs of boost. But I'm just getting the turbo for an amazing deal so I thought why not put it on. Like I said though, I wouldn't be going past 10 lbs of boost

right... waste of time and energy ... need two smaller turbo's ... better in the long run... if you just have to put on a turbo(s)....
but the reality of it all is that these engines just are not real turbo able ... yes u can ... but the issues out way the over all benefits of the expense and lack of longevity post turbo .... like you'll need to upgrade the rods and pistons at a minimum ... also would need to go studs on the heads , and ARP the bottom end... just to ensure it doesn't come apart

60 psi on a cummins would be different then 60psi on an idi. Look at current compression ratios, lower compression on the cummins compared to idi's already pretty high compression. You wouldn't be able to get that big turbo anywhere near 60psi. Fuel just isn't there. I'd get a smaller holset and aim for intercooled 20psi. And by the way, 4x4manonbroke, you sir are a dumfuk
