Tranny swap
Howdy!
I am trying to take automatic transmission out of a 94 f250 super duty, dually, and put it in a 92 f250, 2-wheel drive, problem is, the back of tranny is different, and u-joints, and driveline are bigger.
Has anyone ever faced this problem? Any ideas on what I should do? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

when you say back of the tranny are you talking about the side that mates to the bell housing? or the tail shaft? If the ujoints are different sizes you have a couple options.
1. check and see what size the 2wd ujoints and yokes are and then figure out what your 94 auto trans u joints are. if they are close like 1440 and 1410 as example they make ujoints that adapt which means one side would be 1440 the other would be 1410.
2. once the trans is mated get measurements and have a driveshaft custome built for the ujoints you need. If the Auto trans ujoint is way bigger than the yoke on the rear diff than you will most likely end up needing to chang the yoke on the rear diff to make everything work

i would assume you could do that. Although im sure they made more than one model of that transmission i would check numbers that are most likely stamped on the cases somewhere. I swapped T-case input shafts and man i figured it would be a pull one out drop one in but it turned out there was about 6 or 7 different shafts!! so before you go tearing stuff apart you should do some homework!! I myself would probably just figure out what ujoints to use and go from there seems like less of a headache...
