Question 7.3 international good choice?

Im looking at a 1993 7.3 international F-250 and i cant completey make up my mind cause ive never worked on or played with one of these trucks. owner said the truck has 178,000 miles, rebuilt bosch injectection pump. also recently new valve cover gaskets. any info on the 7.3 would be great considering i dont know much about that motor. also truck is a 5 speed manual. what tranny is that? and when i looked at the first time i noticed some flywheel cover bolts missing?? anything i should be worried about. other than that truck seemed pretty nice. truck also comes with 7.5ft western snow plow. what would a truck like this go for? any info would be great guys thanks.

well cant make a whole lot of power out of the 7.3 idi add a turbo is your best improvement but these ol truck pull good and very reliable,no computer to go bad.id give it a real good look over oil pressure, coolant color and level, front axle are not cheap to work on and with a plow make sure ball joints and tie rods are good, the weight of a plow usually sags the front end by weakening the leaf springs.good luck with the purchase

Great trucks. My very good friend has one with 248,500. Has done injector o-rings, vc gaskets, alt, and ball joints. That is one of the most dependable power plants you can get your hands on. No computer BS. His is also a ZF tranny, that he just did the second thow out bearing in. The first was at 80,000, so thats a good run on that clutch. He did replace the clutch disc, but that was just for gp. Good luck with the purchase. Plows kill front ends, especialy anything over 6'.

If you're looking for a daily driver, I'd steer clear of a plow truck. They tend to have a hard life.

If yo are looking for a plow truck, well, might work out fine.

Also, a lot of people add a premium to a truck to have the plow go with it, so if you don't really want the plow keep that in mind. Of course, a plow like that is likely worth a lot as well.

I don't see a location anywhere for you, that also makes a big difference on how much the truck is worth.

All that said, I am not a big fan of the idea of that plow on a twin I-beam truck such as that F250.
