I had the same experience not a month ago. Not to say it's the same thing, but I added 14 oz of Lucas to the tranny and the (kicking) has stopped. I also noticed it more when it was cold as opposed to having warmed up.
I'm sure others will have some answers. That worked for me....

Now it could be this also..... Are you sure its kicking out of OD or is the TC locking and unlocking?

If its kicking out of OD then mine did the same thing before it finally wouldnt go into OD. My OD clutches were completely toast.

If the Torque Converter is locking and unlocking you need to give call DTT and order one of there Noise Filters. Part# KW5535 $57

Hope this helps

could it be the shift soleniod? some one locally thought that may be the problem?

how can i tell if it's the TC?

i figured it was OD cuz it seems to happen around 50mph. if i can keep it around 60. she's ok, but when i decend to around 50 it kicks in an out.
also around town slower speeds it's fine

does it feel alot more powerful when it "kicks in" if so then it is actually your converter locking up.

i replaced all my shift solonoids because that is what the dealership diagnosed it as. it shill did it. i took it to a local tranny shop and $65 later he told me i was a quart and a half low on fluid. check yer tranny fluid in neutral after the tranny is at opperating temperature..... that cured it for me untill the tranny decided to get a mind of it's own and it started locking up while idling....

tranny fluid is fine.

yeah it feels more powerful some times but not every time. maybe it's a little of both. i have almost 190,000 on origanal trans.. i'm just trying to get it to last a bit longer.

i was looking at an other rig. but if i have to put a new trans in i'll probably keep my truck for a while longer. at 190 miles i'm not going to just replace just the TC. i'll just get a built tranny.

You aint got an APPS you have a TPS.

Check the voltage with a voltmeter while going down the road. I'll see if I can't find the instructions for doin it online. If not I'll haveta dig the paper copy outta my folder.

Edit II: After readin the symptoms, sounds like a bad TPS. Bout $300 for a new one if ya can't get the old one to act right. Their are acouple tricks ya can try. The noise filter from DTT (or rewire it urself with the wires in their own loom), take it off and hit it with some good electrical cleaner, and lastly try and elongate the holes so you can twist the TPS alil in the holes for an adjustment. Personally never had any luck with those but their worth a shot before dropping the $ on a new one.
