Just to maybe to help the others who have decided to move where it gets realy realy REALY COLD. Like the last week and a half here in the San Luis Valley, Colorado where it been close to -20 degress.

First off I have an Alaskan tarp because if you dont its a very very cold drive to work.
Next thank the good lord for Diesel 911 add half a bottle to every fill up and ask the gas attendant if they have yet to switch over to winter diesel because SAFEWAY HAD YET TO DO SO!!!!! so the 10 cent discount led to an hour of friggin hassle so I will stick to out friendly MV CO-OP and their 70/30 Blend. If you guys have advice for the new commers of diesel and cold! give a shout or if you would like to relase your frustration. Im glad I have a CUMMINS I shouldve plug it in when the diesel gelled over....

 

Might want to go easy on the 911, it has alcohol in it. Alcohol likes to dry up/ eat away seals. Power Service in the white bottles would be better for daily use and 911 for emergencies/ gel up. Just my $.02.

 

Check with your local heating oil distributor and see if they have "on the road" #1 and get 5 gallons at a time. Add the 5 gallons per fill up and you won't have a problem.

 

Ya we have a 70/30 blend of diesel and kerosene now. It does alot better, also I dont use 911 diesel all the time I have diesel conditioner that I like i need to go get the name of it. no alchol in it either.

 

I had power services in my truck and it still gelled, i hate that stuff, i had more than the recommended amount as well. So now i am using Howes seams to work.

 

I run Amsoil cetane and diesel additive with no problems grand junciton to Craig and Baggs WY. I carry a can of emergency additive just in case but no worries so far.

 

i started using stanadyne. we have been getting good feed back too from others.

 

pap? does the stanadyne have anti gel in the regular additive? or is this just for cold temps?

 

I have no complaints with Power Service. My truck started to gel up, i shut it down and filled my fass filters with 911 and put the rest in the tank, started her up and she ran fine

 

we run 8 oz of power service ( white bottle) to every fillup and always keep a bottle of red 911 just in case and we are usually around those temps alot and never have gelled. about a month ago we had a high of 1 with windchills at -30 and driving hwy speeds she kept on a rolling. Have heard good things about the standyne to though
