I love the styling of the Dodge Mega Cab, and the straight axle 4wd, yet I can't stand the styling on their newer SUV's, and none come with diesel power.

Ford once had the diesel Excursion and GM had a diesel Suburban.
So why can't/won't Dodge introduce a similar model with diesel power?

It would seem a rather simple (I know, nothing is really simple, but relatively speaking...) to extend the body of the Mega Cab on back and enclose it. The 4 full sized doors are already there along with the interior room.

I'm sure CAFE standards have a good part to play in this decision, but with the RAM's front end styling, and a fully enclosed "living area", and the ability to haul more people and luggage in the same area, combined with the diesels hauling and towing capabilities (not to mention a possibility of using alternate fuel sources), I'd bet this thing would sell like crazy!

Oh well, just dreaming and scheming.....

 

Yea, bring back the old Ramcharger with a Cummins. I'm sure it would sell if they kept the price sane.

FWIW- I've finally made up my mind that the truck that's going to suit me best, is the Dodge Mega Cab Diesel.
Now all I have to do is find the "right" one, and figure out how to afford it?

It just so happened that our local Dodge dealer was having an inventory clearance sale this weekend, and I received one of the "invitations"
It's a BS PR gimmick, but what the heck. I was going to be within a half mile of the place anyway, so why not stop in?

Actually met 2 very nice, and not the usual pushy sales and management folks.

Just as I arrived, there was a guy pulling in with a black 07 Mega diesel. He's ordering a new one just like it! Must be nice.

As it turns out, they didn't have a mega cab in stock, so I checked out the CC.
Nice, but not going to cut it for my purposes.
Guess I'll keep looking.

The sales guy and I spent some time discussing this threads option.
He too found it intreguing.

In the end, I didn't buy anything, but I got $10.00 in "gold" $1.00 coins.....just for showing up....kinda cool!
