a diesel is way more expensive to operate than a car.......trust me......ive owned a 82 chrysler K car, 1993 dodge dakota, 1986 mercury grand marquis, 1995 dodge ram, 1994 ford ranger, 1990 dodge cummins.....in that order, the mercury was the cheapest, funnest, easiest car to maintain ever, in the 120K miles i put on it i changed the oil once, plugs, wires, cap, rotor button and put 14 tires on it.....10 of those were on the rear at 3$ a piece......no exhaust from the floorboard back cause i removed it dukes of hazard style, it did great in the snow when you loaded the trunk down with 200 lbs of steel and put a set of 235/75/15 mud tires on it..........sounded somewhere between a derby car and dirt track bomber.......oh and it would run over 110 mph..........................with one primered fender

My wife purchased a '07 Nissan Versa for her commute car, 120 miles on her scheduled work day, 36mpg and it is quite comfy. It is a low maintenance car, nothing fancy at all and a 100,000 mile warranty. Before this she drove her Hemi Durango (14-16mpg) for about a month until gas crunched her wallet.

i jsut bought me a 1990 subaru for 400 bucks for this same reason insureance is defantly no where near 1000 bucks and the car has the option of 4wd, its a beast! and gets about 24 mpg in town where the truck gets like 14 if im nice ti her, highway is a different story car has gotten 31 max truck averages from 18 to 21 depending on how i drive again. so i think its benifical for me to get this cheap lil guy that i can actaly stan and take off roading dukes of hazzard style
