Default Cold Cummins Coming To Life (Video)

Here is a video of my truck starting after 4 days outside at minus temps with out being plugged in. The first part it goes straight into 3cyl. warm up. Then I shut it down and restart and it starts to rev up and then into 3 cyl warm up.

Actually I did cycle it twice and I still wasn't sure it was gonna go. It was pretty cold. And it hadn't been started for a few days

You know it is surprising if you drive them the day before they seem to start easier when its cold but if they sit for a few days without running its tough, at least mine is. I've had days where I run it and park it at night and leave it out and get up the next morning (colder than today) cycle it a couple times and it fires right off.

yeah cranking on a starter that much will kill it quick, though i dont think you had to worry about nothing being primed with oil before it started.....

Yup, me too. Normally works ok until it reaches -20 C over night then you need to plug it in or it may not work.

Ok can someone tell me this. Today I go out to start my truck just as cold as yesterday but I drove my truck yesterday and I cycle it twice and it fires right off. It sat out for at least twelve hours. Would it still have some heat left in it? It was below zero again. It makes all the difference in the world if I drive it the previous day. I would think that all the heat would be gone
Oh and yesterday the pyro read at 650 today 750. Why?

Pyro doesnt make sense.

Of course all the heat would be gone. But if you drove it yesterday your batteries would be charged up. It always suprises me how much the batteries drain when its cold and I dont drive the truck.

How old are the batteries?

Id never crank mine that long. Thats got to be hard on the starter. Plug er in.
