Default Headlight Bulb Question

I recently purchased a set of Nokya Artic white 100/80w bulbs for my 1996 Dodge Ram 2500, I have 2 questions, one is do i need the heavy duty wiring harness for them and if i kept my stock one would it burn it up since the lights are running at higher voltages? and 2 is that the lights dont seem very bright, low beam seems to be brighter then high beam which i cant understand, i have cleaned the lenses and the lights are aligned right, and i cant figure out why they are dim!

First, the increased wattage is added a amperage draw on your system...not adding voltage.

Secondly, the stock wiring could be acting like a resistor...a wire of certain gauge can only pass a given amperage at a given voltage. Jack the draw up, and the voltage drops and amperage increases...if you go too far, the wiring becomes a fuse and burns out.

I would definitely upgrade the wiring, and probably add relays to remove the actual load from the truck's wiring.
