Default The Stealership strikes again...WOW!

After 93,000 miles, the vacuum pump for my Jake Brake took a dump. As this brake is an actual Mopar accessory, I called the local Dodge Garage to get an idea of what a replacement would cost. Didn't figure it would be too bad as the entire kit listed for $1200.00 when I bought mine in '04, and the pump is driven off the serpentine belt and no bigger than my hand.

How's $937.00 +tax sound to ya!!!!!

After I picked myself up off the floor, I called the local Cummins parts retailer. He says, "Well, we don't have one in stock, so we'll have to order it for ya. It would be here tomorrow. Seems kinda pricey for small vacuum pump though. Computer's telling me almost 200 bucks for it, $192 and some change to be exact, plus about 10 bucks for freight. If you want it, we can ship it to your door if you pre-pay with a credit card."

I guess part of Chrysler's plan to become profitable is to create a 500% markup on diesel parts.

That sounds like an entire Jake Brake assembly.

Cant rebuild it? I believe you can rebuild the older ones.

FIXINRAMS.COM

If you can be without the truck for a few days maybe you can send it to them?

When the driver's side power mirror got smashed on my truck, GM quoted me $1200!!! For the ----ing mirror! Looked it up on ebay, and I can get it for <$350, which in my mind is still pretty damn high. GM is full of just as much crap as any of the others. 400% markup...I couldn't believe it either, when the body shop guy quoted me I said no freaking way, laughed at him and walked out. That dealership is now being closed as part of GM's restructuring. What a bunch of idiots.

ive always got decent prices at ford (for front suspension i use MOOG though), thats about all i put on my moms 2001 F150, and they were the same or less than the junk from the parts store.....i could of bought a new set of 2003 dodge non-electric tow mirrors (non-OEM crash replacement) from a junkyard for 325, we went to the dodge dealership in Bartow and they had them for 250 plus tax and they was MOPAR......

I wish. The entire assembly now "lists" for nearly $1900.00 at your local friendly Dodge dealer. Wonder what the whole ball-o-wax would cost at the Cummins shop?
