If you have enough fuel(which you do) you can overrun the wastegate. I'd turn it back in to where it was and buy an external gate you can more precisely control.

Did you ever stop to think you were slightly overfueled?

my question is on my 96 there is a tube that goes from the turbo to a round plastic thing. is that a external wastegate? is there a spring or diaphram inside that can be adjusted or replaced to control it?

that is on a stock turbo, on an aftermarket turbo there is a adjustable elbow in the compressor housing to control the wastegate

when i put in my 100 fuel plate i put a boost elbow off the compressor housing. the stock one you could hardly blow through. the new one is like blowing through a straw. i think this is what you are referring to. right?
