i have been watching my tranny temp gauge and i was just wondering what would be too hot where it starts to break things.when im just driving in 70 degree weather running 60 65 mph its 100-120 degrees. when im sitting in traffic or stopping and going its about 140-160 degrees .and when im buring the tires and running full out its about 180-200 degrees , i know the tranny will eventually go but im wondering how hott it will get.

 

i believe 240-260 is considered to hot and can start to boil your ATF.

 

ok it hasnt went that far yet, aslong as i get airflow to the cooler it cools down pretty quick

 

At around 210 degrees it's bad for the seals.

 

where are you getting the temp from? pan or out the hot line after the converter?

 

i have the nv4500 and i rarely see 180 when towing at 70mph in th heat of summer

 

i put the sensor in the pan even if im full out it dont really even go over 180
