Yeah, had to do the same thing with my 98 and the SBC 3850... Not sure why it is, but some trucks need it, others don't.

I had the same problem with my 95' but i had the single disc and it lasted 299 miles and the disc welded its self to the pressure plate and wouldnt go into gear so i took it back apart and i paid the difference and they sent me a new dual disc
