Me personally i wouldnt, your engine in a few years is gonna be worth more than that whole truck, the power to be had out of your truck is way more than out of the 1st gen

Its for the best man! I love first gens but I doubt I would ever trade down to one ever. It would be a second type of truck thing. 1st gens have their own unique set of problems like parts that are not made anymore..... 2nd gens are a much better and well rounded truck...

Yep, I agree with everything right there! I sold my '96 2500 x-cab for what's in my sig. While it is serving its' purpose and I was able to get out of payments to buy my 1st gen cash, I'm looking forward to getting back into a 2nd gen 12v again. Mainly, I miss the smooth ride, parts availability, tight turning and stupid power. I never thought I'd miss the 'smooth' ride!! I'm going through my 1st gen and putting relays on all kinds of things because I'm tired of replacing switches, mainly the lights and blower motor. Fortunately, the Getrag was replaced with an NV4500 by the former owner.

Don't get me wrong, my 1st gen is an awesome truck and was dirty cheap but if you already have a 2nd gen, especially built up like your sig says...keep it! Unless you find yourself needing a manual trans and an extra truck...

it just so happens that I have a good 1st gen 12v motor and looking maybe to trade for a 2nd gen. Motor is bone stock and in pretty good shape. Ive also got the 5 speed it was backed with and a divorced case. Dont need it where Im going... We can talk about it if you want to.

I remember a few driveline things in my truck that weren't available but I don't remember specifically what it was, whether it was the slip-joint (2 pc shaft) or u-joints or yoke...it's been a while.
