had one in my chevelle and it sat while i was restoring the car put it in and if fired right up. going to put them in the 95 when it need it.

Had the yellow top myself in my old gasser, put in when I bought the truck in 96 it finally died in 07...
Haven't had any issues yet with the stock batteries in the truck, but when I do Optima yellow tops are gonna replace them!!!

An update on the batteries. The other day the truck sat out in -30 temps, was plugged in for 5 hours and it turned over like it was summer.

I had a pair of red tops in my 98' 12 valve. Wish I would of taken 'em out when I got rid of it When this truck needs batteries, I will be using the red tops again.

i got a yellow top on my durango. (has a sound systme and compressor). love it so far. my other battery died b/c the truck sits for 6 days and gets driven at most once a week, while im away at college. so ya, no complaints here

Optimas are supposed to be great for holding charge during limited use.

i have one bad battery in my truck and a group 34/78 red top sitting in the garage. Can i mix the red top with a standard replacement battery of different CA's

Not a good idea at all.

In a parallell system you MUST replace BOTH batteries at once. If you do not, there will be a parasitic drain on the new battery and in extreme cases, it can be ruined.
