I put up with my Dodge because I love my Cummins personally. Over the years I've gotten rid almost everything that was Dodge except the Body, frame and part of the computer and I guess the interior. Everything that counts has been changed out to aftermarket. But my truck is also 10 years old and as a farm truck has been used and abused pretty regulary from day 1.

I think most guys get in trouble because of the mods. It's so cheap and easy to crank out the HP on these trucks they they forget about all the extra wear and tear that HP puts on other parts and that leads to all the breakdowns and problems. Then they want to whine because they're truck is fallin apart. Guess what, the old saying applies here to, "You gotta pay to play".

I started out as a die hard Chevy guy, then went to Fords and now on to the Cummins. I would have bought the Cummins in any of the wrappers it came in though.

like said above, all trucks have their own curses, my 98.5 had brake issues that could never be solved, had them since day one, went through hubs like crazy, my 99, has a crack dash and beat up interiot, but mechanically it was taken very good care of, no problems there.

I like my truck but don't think it us worth the price. My sticker said $52,000. But after comparing a Laramie with a LT chevy, and Lariat ford, I think dodge/Chrysler is still way behind the others as far as detail. I condition and clean my leather bout once a week and it looks worse than my cousins cheap a$$ LS Colorado with added leather at the dealer. My seats wobble back and forth. My sunroof has never stopped leaking, got a fogged up trans temp gauge because of that. Defroster will blow out out water when its raining. And there are no vents for the people in the back. I just think as far as up to date stuff, dodge is trailing at the back of the pack.

Cummins: this is my first diesel. Got it for effiency and mpg and what ya know, prices shoot up and change diesel to low sulfur crap that runs bad. I got things to appreciate about the big 3. Got a dodge cause my uncle worked at the dealer. I believe some are lemons and some not. From day one, mine has had a hard starting issue. Sometimes it smokes and sometimes it don't. Guess I'm just bad luck with things that cost alot. I think it should have came with a 5 speed auto instead of crappy 4 speed. When going up a hill at 55, it needs to drop to a slightly lower gear to get more boost to cool off instead of having to lug it all the way up it. But guess that's what its made to do. Ok im done.

yeah you guys pretty much covered it. Dodges=weak auto, bad front ends. Ford=head Gaskets. Chevy (where to start...just kidding)=IFS, and tranny goes into limp mode pretty easy. I personally think ford makes the better truck, but i bought the Goat for the engine.

Wow!! I must have one the very few good ones! I did put a set of injectors in (not DC's fault!) I have 120k miles on mine most of it on oilfield "goat trails". I did install 20" rims, becuase mud packs in the OEM rims and I was doing brakes every month! I have been running with the 20" rims for the last 60k miles haven't touched brakes since! As for the "slush box" auto tranny, I regularly pull 10k # through mud, snow and pavement in all weather conditions and no issues ( no issues prob. due to I try not to break any land speed records) Leaks, rattles and squeaks none cept for the maunual rear sliding window, get dirt/dust in between the rubber seals ad the glass i get a "squeak" clean the rubber seals and it goes away! I do however dislike the headlights, they start out strong only to get weak later, so I had to spend some cash and get some offroad lighting. Never had water/rain leaks from either the cab lights nor the rear brake light.
My younger brother runs a Industrial Medic service in the oil patch he has ran duramx, Fords and dodges, his thoughts... never again duramx (sit way too low) if he could get new fords with the 7.3 ...(bring em) Dodge he had the least amount of problems with, if dodge could get their chasis certified for ambulaces... that is all he'd use!
My other brother has an 05 3500QC DRW 2WD auto with 230k miles he runs as hot shot service, truck is bone bare stock, no issues and still rides like new!

I agree if you modify ie HP you gonna pay, bigger tires, lifts yer gonna pay... but you can't blame DC for any problems with your truck if its modified. Goes for GM/Chev and Ford.

Tracy,

Think again. Any GMC product made after 2000 has a black box in it that will record nearly everything the vehicle is doing. GMC is as far as I know the only maker that has it brand wide but it is there. This of course if not the same as GPS tracking which must also be relayed through the on-star system because the commercials you see on TV about it show an accident in the middle of no where and on-star comes to the rescue. Sure, this may not be the truth but since I don't own one I can't really comment on how it works.

I personally think the idea of on-star is great but like everything these days the fees associated with it are just not worth it.

I'm with you Wyatt. I don't know anything about on-star myslef but it only makes sence to me that if like Lo-Jack, on-star can tell a company where your at at any given time in case of emergence then how can they not use it to be able to track you any other time.

Not that I care anything about anybody knowin where I'm at, I am against it just for ethical reasons and the fact that it put's us that one more step closer to the Big Brother scenario.
