So i think my ecm in my 01 is bad the truck bucks like mad at idle with tons of white smoke some times it will idle nice when it gets warmed up but it wont rev past 1200 rpm in gear but if you put it in park it will rev all the way you can hear the motor change in sound as well like the vp44 is pushing more fuel through it and then goes away and comes back i havnt hot wired the pump yet but was wanting some ideas do you thing i could fix it with a tuner if that is the issue what you guys thing ???

How did you come to the email conclusion? A chip won't fix mechanical issues. Sounds like a dying vp. Got good fuel pressure?

I guess my question is why? What reasoning? We don't replace parts because it "sounds like it". We replace parts because data directs us too that component. My question is what data do you have that has suggested a faulty ecm? Have powers and grounds been tested at the pump? I see you haven't done a stand alone, that's a for sure way to eliminate the ecm from the list of possibilities. What about the apps, has it been checked?

i also replaced the apps i did forget to say that when i swap out the relay for the fuel it rain good for about 10 minutes then did the same crap

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

the reason i was wondering about the tuner is that if the ecm has a bug would flashing it with a tuner would it fix the bug

No a malfunction of that nature is not related to ecm software. That relay might give you some direction. Maybe check powers and grounds at the ecm, Pcm, and vp-44. Wouldn't dare replace my ecm unless I had reason and proof. Standalone the pump then make a decision!

There's not enough data to even guess. Your symptoms sound like a vp44 but that doesn't mean replace it. You really either need to do some diagnosis work or find a shop that can.
