Well warmer months are on their way and soon I will be wanting some AC

a few months ago I did me a new VP44 and I opted to pull the whole front end off so I could snoop around for some other things..........anyway I had to depressure my AC and pull the condensor

So someone tune me up as to what I hafta do to get my AC back........

do I need to pull a vacumn on it the load the new juice or what??

Also whats the new refrigerent stuff called ??

 

well I did a/c work on a 94 chevy couple years ago you will have to pull a vac on the system check the oil very important use R134a refrigent.I would replace the orface tube its a filter for the system.

 

replace your orfice tube, on your truck it is fixed so you have to replace a piece of pipe..... MT0829 from Autozone and it's $16.99 ......you can also flush your system if need be if you think it has been contaminated. the flush is like $15 at autozone and comes in an aerosol can...... it wouldn't hurt to pull a vaccum on it since you pulled it appart and could have damaged the o-rings. you can always replace all the o-rings in the system, MT2507 from Autozone again and it's $6.99 <---this is the whole kit for your truck. every o-ring and seal in the tubing system. don't forget to get the correct weight oil your truck uses SP-20 PAG oil. the truck holds a total of 7.1 oz of oil but you should only need to add 3-4 oz since there is still oil in there. you can add it directly to the tubes when they are open while you are replacing the orings. your system takes 0.907 Kg (32 oz.) of R134a refrigerant. it's best to have the correct gauge setup so you can read the high and low pressure sides to make sure there aren't any blockages anywhere. other than that you should be good to go.be sure to crank the truck and turn the a/c on max and wide open on the fan before you start charging. the pressure switch will cycle the compressor on and off while it charges until it gets full. if you want to change the compressor switch for s&g's it is MT1007 from Autozone for $37.99........

Edit : don't forget to charge the system on the low side (the port with the blue cap over it) as on the high side won't yeild good results or safe ones for that matter.....

the fitting will not fit the high pressure line if you use the recharge cans you get at any local parts store with the line and guage on them. It comes preloaded with oil etc just read the can and put it in it's easy. I converted my old toy to the new stuff with just a kit and didn't flush the system or change anything and it worked fine and it was empty for years. just added new lines cuz they had holes in them

 

I am now setup for auto A/C, after years of trying to tell family members that I only work on real A/C's I finally gave in and got the fittings last summer. Bring it up this way and I can set you up.

 

A/C systems are a piece of cake to work on, i should know, i got a 95% in A/C class in college
