Default High Idle & 3 Cylinder Idle*

Hey gang I got a new one for you on how to get high idle for your 24V.

We all know that the high idle software is in the ECM. but for most of us its disabled by default. So you either got to go to the dealer to enable it or borrow a Smarty for a short time anf run a program and reset to stock.

But now the high idle will not start unless the IAT sees below 32*F and 3 cylinder high idle won't start unless the IAT shows below 15*F.

But I want to use it now though....

So I start experiementing with resistors and the Cummins... I found that if you unplug the IAT sensor wire and put a 65K ohm resistor (Green, Blue, Orange, Gold) in to the plug of the IAT it will show at it being 13*F.

Now if you start you truck the it will start as normal and it will idle for about 2 mintues to allow for the grid heater to cycle awhile and oil pressure to stabilize.

After that the RPM will increase and ramp up to 1,200 RPM's then the 3 cylinder mode kicks in. Beware you going be freaked out when it starts. It makes alot of racket.

But now take notice to your pyro it not a little 250-350*F its now 450-550*F Now turn on your exhaust brake... WOW! pyro jumps to 850*F and its still rattling away!

Once the coolant temp reaches 175*F the high idle program cancel automatically and normal idle resumes. You truck will have a temp in about 5 mintues from the time the high idle starts.

I'm currently getting the matterials to build this properly and not cut wire on my truck. So bear with me and I'll show you the complted high idle switch set up...
