Default How TO: Proper Clutch Installation

This is an article that was written in Undercar Digest last August. They used my truck and the previous owners botched clutch install for the article. I learned A TON by haging out in their lab and shop. This is an EXCELLENT article about why my clutch failed and how to properly install a clutch. Enjoy... and let me know how you like the article!

Did they just not show it, or did they some how not use an alignment tool?? I couldn't imagine installing a clutch and not using an alignment tool! Some really good tips in that article

They did show it. Look on page 6 at photo 23. It shows us using an input shaft that the shop keesp for installations. They believe a metal input shaft gives a better alignment than the plastic one.

Oh ok, I was wondering what they were doing there. I would agree that a metal shaft would give you much more accuracy than the little plastic deal I used! If I had spare input shafts laying around I would use one too
