New guy here. I'm looking for reputable diesel shop in the vicinity of Wilmington, NC. Any pointers would be great.

Wilmington is about 3 hours from there. It's located 1 hour north of Myrtle Beach, SC on RT. 17. I can find them on the web. Thanks for the info. Noticed you've got 7.3 PSD. I'm looking to get some better mileage and power out of my wife's 01 7.3 PSD. Only thing I've done to it is a K & N filter and Royal Purple motor oil. Not looking to spend a ton of money as I've got a 04 Cummins to modify as well. Any tips on programmers?

do you have the K&N drop in filter? If so -- GET RID OF IT!

The K&N intake is good if it is the whole intake, but those drop ins have a problem with sealing up against the factory box and can allow dusting of the turbo

AFE makes great intakes and filters -- just make sure if you get oiled ones, to keep up with the maintenance because you know as well as I do that they suck TONS of air thru the filter and have to make sure its filtered well..

Another thing you may want to do is get a 4" turbo back exhaust -- Mine didn't have a cat from the factory, so I just have a high flow muffler.

I've got a stage 1 AFE intake, 4" turbo back muffler and put a bedcover on (roll up so I can use my 5th wheel in the summer) and I can get nearly 20 mpg on the hwy if I cruise at 70 or less (I have a 2wd)

I am now going to switch the rear diff fluid to Amsoil, and thinking about doing the tranmission too.

As for programmers/chips -- I personally am going to purchase a Tony Wildman chip as I consider him (and so do many) one of, if not the best 7.3 tuner out there, but I hear that Eric @ Innovative, or Jody @ DP also are good on their economy tunes.

Hoped that helps! And Trucks Unlimited will do factory work on Fords even with mods -- they know what to look for and how to fix them! Just give Scott a call and tell him Brant sent ya -- talk to him about what ya want to do and what trucks they work on (may be a Ford only place... but worth the drive to have him work on your truck!)

Thanks again for the info! I do have a drop in filter, but after I noticed dust on the outlet side of the filter, I fabbed up an additional gasket that gives a tighter seal around the K & N filter. No more dust. I'm leaning towards a 4" turbo back 14 gauge aluminized to keep costs down. Any idea on prices on those programmers you mentioned?
