Tranny Shop In Houston

any body know of a good place where i can get a rebuild tranny or a complete swap in the Houston area?

cashwheel 11-16-2007 11:45 PM

I bet the guys at DI could give you hand, or alteast an idea of were to go.

2500HeavyDuty 11-16-2007 11:56 PM

i know of DI their shop is about 45 minutes from where i live, anywhere else? hows their rate for install

cashwheel 11-16-2007 11:58 PM

I've heard about a guy in Columbus, about the same distance, but I dont know any of his contact info, just hearsay.

2500HeavyDuty 11-17-2007 12:09 AM

i know theres all kinds of transmission shops around town, my dad knows this fella in downtown Houston who has a tranny shop, but hes scared with messing the the Allison 1000, hes never seen one go bad before. and then there people like Mr.Transmission who could do it also, but i pretty much handing them my life savings if i go to them

cashwheel 11-17-2007 12:34 AM

Yeah I know the feeling, thats why I ordered from goerends and put it in myself

2500HeavyDuty 11-17-2007 12:40 AM

i would do that myself even though i wouldn't have the faintest idea of what i was doing but after looking a a few diagrams ill muster up enough confidence to do it anyway, but i just dont have the equipment or the space to do that kinda job. so i gotta take it somewhere"give:

I talked to Joe(Suncoast) a while back and he recommended
Mace-a-matic Trans
Belton 254-939-7092
or
Michael's All Trans
Houston 713-643-6234

I heard good things about Mike's from a guy IIRC labor was $1200 on his.

2500HeavyDuty 11-27-2007 11:20 PM

i talked to some guy in marble falls, about 3 hours from here, and he said heel do it for 800

DangerousDuramax 11-28-2007 03:11 AM

Talk to Nate or David at DI and tell them I sent you. You are not going to find a better shop, establishment, or team within 300 miles. They can set you up with the best that ATS has to offer and tune it to the way you drive and your power level.

I talked DSTRBD at DI, they said they don't do rebuilds, they just do valve bodies, T/C's and transmission swaps. I need more than a T/C cause my clutches are burnt up and i need new ones, and i don't wanna throw in 8k for a ATS Extreme. But they are a good shop, but they don't offer the services i need.:sos:

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

i have a stg IV on the way should be here within a few days. Ive heard from a fella on DP about this guy in marble falls, he too is a Duramax owner. and does performance upgrades. But ima give these to shops that are close to Houston. if and see if i can get a good quote on the rebuild. if not then im off to marble falls.

besides i like driving:Race:

I talked to Nate at D.I. too, Waaay too expensive.
I thought about going to an Allison Big truck shop, I think there is one on Mesa rd. near the loop.

2500HeavyDuty 12-04-2007 05:42 PM

I have contacted a guy in Sealy, wow his prices were through the roof! So far There are 2 guys in Houston One guy an 1 hour south of DFW and This guy in marble falls seem to be my options. I guess im going to Marble falls, he said he can rebuild the tranny in one day which is good cause i gotta head back to town for some partying. He also Had the best deal by 500 Dollars than any one of the other shops i called. Ima try and get this fella to join DB when i head over there.

Yeah, thats Nate. So your not looking for a complete built tranny install? They are an ATS dealer and do complete ATS installs. You dont need the Extreme because your never going anywhere near 1000+ hp. Get the Stage I tranny for 5K and upgrade with the Co-pilot later when you can afford it.

2500HeavyDuty 12-07-2007 05:03 AM

Gone....:Race:

Diamond3Max 12-07-2007 09:30 AM

Sweet, let me know how it turns out. And if you dont mind shoot me a PM, or post it here, on a labor price. Im just looking at doing the SCII vs you doing the IV.

Hope everything turns out good

DangerousDuramax 12-08-2007 11:20 AM

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

And just a little off topic...ive been driving my truck around since i got the stgIV installed, it is starting to shift smoothly now, but the 4-5 shift still throws ya around. drove 200+ miles with it in already mostly highway. im about to go do some city driving so it can finally learn itself.

I will take 75-100 shifts before the TCM smooths it out. Its not the amount of driving that programs it but the number of shifts. The best thing to do is get a Tech II and clear the TAPS then set it for fast learn. :U:

2500HeavyDuty 12-08-2007 04:27 PM

would you happen to have a tech II

DangerousDuramax 12-08-2007 04:30 PM

Nope, but I know someone who does...:w2:

2500HeavyDuty 12-08-2007 04:32 PM

:humm:

DangerousDuramax 12-08-2007 04:34 PM

If you talk really really nice to Russell (RTToys) he might just let ya pay the usual fee of a 30 pack of Miller High Life to reset your tranny for ya.

2500HeavyDuty 12-08-2007 04:46 PM

well.... one of my friends who works at hooters is having a bday party... and i could get rtttoys to come over and get some free beer

DangerousDuramax 12-08-2007 04:47 PM

And this pertains to your tranny shifting HOW? :ha:
