Hi guys, I'm new to the forums and actually new to diesel trucks. This is my first. I found a deal around my area that I just couldn't pass up. It wa a 06 f350 crew cab dually 4x4 lariat with 170k miles for only 4k cash!. The catch is the engine is bad and already half taken apart by previous owner, so I'd imagine parts are missing ect. Point being, it needs a new engine.

I'd like to know what you guys would suggest I do. I honestly wasn't trying to put a 6.0 back in it.

My Budget is around 6k and I've got a guy who does relatively cheap labor for me.

Ive heard of cummins and cat swap, maybe a 7.3 or 6.4 if possible?

Would I have to replace the tranny if I did this, and how much are we looking for it all price wise guys?
