Just bought low mileage race car trailer toter with the 8.2 Detroit Fuel Pincher turbo with a six speed manual trans and 3.9 rear end. What would be a good re - engine choice? We would like to get at least 300hp and 650 torque. Current engine is 230hp and 495 torque.

I have access to sons steel fab shop and some machine tools but would like to avoid anything exotic.

Just depends on how it will be used and how much you would tow with it.

 

If you have a big enough dog house under the cab then go with the DT466 international with a P pump! Plenty reliable and hooks up with plenty of torque.

Chances are with that v8 diesel you dont have much of a dog house and there for limited for space! If so get a 8v 72 and some earplugs!
