Hello, I'm considering swapping my 6L vortec out for a 12V cummins i have in my 92 dodge. I have done a small amount of research and found i can almost buy everything to make it a bolt in process(motor mounts, adaptor plate, flywheel, transmission controller, ect...). I haven't actually located any threads that had someone doing a swap on my style truck, so i'm wondering on what fab issues i may run into. It seems a lot of people change the transmission along with the motor, but i plan to keep mine the same(4L80). I'm wondering if i buy a duramax front bumper and intercooler if it should work? Will i have to modify some of the cross-members? Any information would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

 

Don't know about the various frame/mount mods, but, there's a company that makes just about every possible bell-housing imaginable for bolting up a tranny to the back of a Cummins. You might also source one from the worldfamous "bread truck" that's often powered by a 4BT and has a TH400 trans.

somebody's probably already done it, though...maybe he'll happen along and give more (better) information.

 

you might go an look into autoworld with there motor mounts. and is it 4x4 or 2x4?

 

is the 99 the 88-98 square body style still or the 2000 up body style
