Default chevy gas swapped for a dmax

i have a 8.1l in a 2001 chevy 2500hd with an Allison an i was wondering what i would need to swap in a dmax.i know i will need the motor, an i think the tc for a diesel one. what else would i need to do. if its going to take a long time i might just try selling it an looking for a dmax, but i would like to know how hard it would be to do it thanks.

Motor mounts, all the wiring and ECM and PCM, fuel lines and sender in the tank. You'd be miles ahead to sell yours and go from there.

i was told that the wiring harness in the 01 that i have is very similar to what the diesel one has an as for the fuel lines and sender unit would just a fast system work an just remove all the gas lines an have ones mad up to supply the engine.

for the wiring harness close doesnt cut it and you dont need a fass pump on a dmax since the cp3 pulld its own fuel but even if you put a fass on that system uses about 85% of the stock fuel system to work

so all i would need is the complete wiring harness for the motor only right an as for the fuel do i just need to replace the lines an the pump in the tank. then replace the ecm, an get it relearn an motor mounts. as for the mounts do i just need to get dmax ones or i need ones fab up.

should be the same cradle so the factory dmax ones can be used

also radiator, intercooler and all the piping and hoses for that

i was thinking what about a cummins 12v in the truck what would i have to do for the trans an other things. i know that the 12v does not have lots of electronics on it but as for the truck what would i need to do thanks.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

or would it be alot simpler to put like a 24v or something with electronics thanks

it would be simplest to do a 12 valve swap, but you will have to buy an adapter to go to the allison with a standalone controller iirc fleece makes one. and its not cheap. i would say the cummins swap would come in around $5k or you could just watch the internet and find a wrecked dmax for around there and have everything for that swap. honestly i would save the money, sell your truck and just get one, much easier and no little surprises that all swaps have.

why would the allison need a standalone controller an are they like the ones destroke sales.
an if i stay with the dmax i was told that my transmission would not bolt up to it bc it has a gm bell housing from the 8.1l an the dmax is some other kind of housing.
