the one camaro one i have seen needed a lot of modifications to the oil pan/kmember area! they had to cut a ton out . the hood also needed to be at least 4 inch cowl if i remember. the rear end that it had was a chevy 12 bolt, and the trans was a 47rh in it. the coil springs in the front need to be modded, and the downpipe is VERY tight in a third/fourth gen camaro so second is probably your best option.

How much does a 4bt weight compared to a ls1 or ls2?

I dont even know if a 4" in a second gen would let that clear. It might but its gonna be tight. Either way your gonna have to cut on it. And your gonna have to tie the frame together as well on a second gen which isnt hard to to but another must.

iirc an ls1 fully dressed is around 475 lbs? a 4bt i would guess fully dressed at around 700lbs. and it could have been a 6 inch cowl on it still with mods. forgot about the subframe connectors i usually get those no mater what for these cars to help them out

Um have you taken a look at a second gen camaro? Not so small, but now that I say that... I dont think you were the one that brought up the second gens.

Side note, I have roughly a 6-6.5 inch cowl on mine and that would probably do the trick.
