S-10 Kubota Diesel Conversion

Update: Took the truck for a test run today, just a couple miles or so around the neighborhood. I realized there was an RPM problem when I could only get 58MPH out of it and that was going down hill. I had to change the governor spring to get it to turn more RPM’s, I’ll let you know how the next test run goes. I still have all the OEM wiring harness in place, haven’t cut anything yet. I powered the computer back up so the speedometer, fuel gauge, anitlock brakes and other things would work. Here are some pics with the front clip and everything back in place.

Thanks for the compliments guys, I’ve really enjoyed the build! Governor Spring: Pull the cover off that holds the stop lever, you will need access inside this cover to get the spring on and off. Then pull the cover that holds the throttle lever, connected to the underside of throttle lever is the spring you need to replace. Grab the spring with needle nose pliers and work it out. You need a stouter spring in its place, the stouter the spring the more RPM’s you will get. I have the Kubota part number if you need it, but even that spring will only get you 2800 RPM’s. I’m going to try mine at 2800 but I’m thinking I will want 3100, not that I would run it like that but least it will be there if I need it.
I talked to another fellow last night that has a V2203 in an 88 Ranger, he says it gets 44MPG driving it hard or at least like you would normally drive a truck. He said it runs great at 65MPH and had a top speed of 75MPH but you really can't run it wide open. He is running 3.31 gears and has been running the truck for several months. He doesn’t have any accessories on his, not even PS. He’s about an hour from me so when I have mine up and drivable I may run up and see him. He is supposed to be sending me some pics, I’ll see if he will allow me to re-post them here.

Update: Got the exhaust finished today, plumbed it so the turbo could be taken off and on with ease. I’m going to run in normally aspirated first and then put the turbo on just to see the fuel mileage and power changes. I was able to take it for a short drive, maybe 5-6 miles around the country block so-to-speak. It is by no means a power house but has plenty of power to run around the surface streets, not sure how the interstate will go yet. I’m still only getting 2800 RPM’s which I’m not satisfied with it needs to turn up in the 3100-3200 range. Next is putting the fuel tank back on the truck so I can put the hood back on.
