Nice work! I'm surprised you don't have a turbo, the black smoke is from that, and backing off the fuel may cure it, but then it may have no power. What are your egt's like? Before I got my better turbo on high egt's were a factor so be carefull, I suspect you have high egt's without one.

Thanks FTE, I do not have a Pyrometer on her yet, I will work on that. I have some fine tuning to do, I am currently working on the alt belt alignment as it has a bit of a wobble in it and it! I have recently talked to Aaron, he called me from Nicaragua and we had a nice chat, he had advised me not to run a turbo and he does not have one either, where as he did not say anything about an EGT gauge I will factor that into my budget. Theoretically the Bobcat 763 and 773 models all ran a v2203MDI and they we all naturally aspirated unless they had A/C. Bobcat states to run the machine at full throttle 2850 rpm all the time and the hydraulic pumps work the cr@p out of those engines so I wonder what the exhaust temp is on those...?

I'd bet around 1000°. Their not fueling nearly as hard as you are. Especially since they are idi and the idi pumps don't put out as much fuel as the di pumps

all of the bobcats 99 and newer are DI and I have my rack set the same as Ingersoll's factory spec now. It seems to be doing great. You can buy a fuel rack screw assembly from a bobcat dealer or ck power and they come preset for fueling specs for the machine

I am trying to find a v2203. are all v2203 DI engines the same? but just set for different speeds? I saw one from a reefer, and it says type v2203-DI-ES, rated at 28.9=38.7 HP. this one I am looking at lists the type as above, and does not have a "M" in the model. Also says it is from year 2005.

thanks

If it is out of a reefer it will not have the M in the model or serial. According to Kubota, Bobcat or any servicing dealers I.e. CK Power here in St. Louis or Engine Power Systems in Chicago, they will tell you it is NOT a Kubota engine and they make it hard to get parts around here. They claim it is a "Carrier Engine" blah blah blah they are all the same besides the front cover is stamped Carrier. Dennis Mundorf in Deerlodge TN took over for Aaron at diesel repower and he sells them for a great price. If you need help on parts I have some good connections here in St. Louis and I have a parts manual from the Carrier dealer in Collinsville IL. I will say the head covers differ from time to time with the newer emissions requiring CCV. The head cover will need to be drilled and tapped with a chanfer and an o-ring boss to SAE 1" thread to receive a factory Kubota filler plug. Valtec hydraulics in St. Louis did mine for 10$

Also the other difference is the governors are set for a lower rpm on the carrier vs. The Kubota. But like FTE said governor spring and fuel rack will need attention. Usedkubotaman has a pic of the Kubota part number to achieve 2800 rpm but you may want more....good luck! If you need any info help or contacts let me know

All the ones I'd seen were idi, guess I was only looking at older ones. Anyway, if its set to factory fueling specs you should be fine. I thought you said it was smoking a lot. If that's the case you need a Pyro. These motors can get hot fast. I had my fuel turned up higher than I needed it, it would barely even smoke, and three or four seconds would find me at 1200° and still climbing

Thanks wyo, I don't think I hurt it yet it seems to run great with no vibration I. Will do some trial and error on the fuel rack and work on the pyro !

hey dirt digger do you have a phone # for the folks at Diesel Repower in TN. I don't think the # I got off the internet is correct

thanks

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Sorry for the wasted post. I re-read the post and got the phone # for Diesel repower. It turns out I did have the correct # to start. I just could not get through. I am on Skype until I get home from work, in a freakin month.
Thanks You guys have done a good job with the smaller details of the project. I have not decided if I am going to stick with the jeeps or try a ranger.
