Default 76 Chevy/Cummins Need Advice

I'm installing a 12v in my 76 Chevy 3/4 ton and I need some help. I want to install the intercooler but I can't find enough room for it. Can anyone give me some pointers?

Thanks for the info, I'll have to check it out. I pulled everything from a 94 Dodge and I was going to use the Dodge radiator. Will the intercooler work with the Dodge radiator? Did you use a body lift? I'm having trouble getting clearance for my transmission and I thought a body lift would help. Do have pics of your engine compartment you could send me?

if your motor has a spacer ring between the block and the trany then yes a body lift would be good, if not then it should clear.if you dont want the lift then you will have to cut on the tunnel, we ran into this problem with an nv4500 needless to say it isn't in yet. the motor can't be droped down any more because of the harmonic balencer and A/C compresser and oil pan clearances. (of course there are some that have, any thing is possable). I will get some pics up after work and good luck.

here are some pics of the inter cooler, if you do not have an A/C cooler then the dodge stuff should fit. I have not tried that myself though. some of the cross member needs cut out and a new piece replaced. the frame needs notched, if you use the cummins A/C pump, I can't get a good pic of the tunnel.there are some good threads on this swap, just do some good searching.

I've seen many of these swaps done without body lifts or floor mods I do have a body lift on mine 2" but I'm very far from everything just because of the body lift

I didn't have to modify mine, or use a body lift, but it would have made it easy to work on. my bell housing bolts are tough to get to but it can be done.

Thanks for the pics. Did you have to take the grill support out out to get the intercooler in?

Did you use the Dodge radiator?

Yes i did remove the center support, also the hood latch will have to be removed that's why i have the hood pins. I used the Chevy radiator, but it is the bigger one.( diesel one i guess)
