Chevy M1008 - 6.2L to a 6BT Cummins
Looking to swap out the 6.2 Diesel out of an older Chevy M1008 military truck. First, can i throw some upgrades on the TH400 so it'll acually take more power? (500-800hp cummins) Then, i need to know where i can buy a Cummins that has either been in a first gen dodge or would have been in one. I plan on the truck being a nice day driver/ sled puller/ rock crawler/ and hopefully a good drag truck. I plan on a 6" lift and 37's to ease the gearing a bit (4.56). 14 bolt rear with detroit locker and a dana 60 front that id like to put a limited slip diff. in. I wouldn't mind a NV4500 too much but i dont want to be playing on the clutch on the rocks and the auto would be a little faster id think in a drag race. and i dont want to hack up the original transmission set up if i dont have to. Oh, and i have a very very low budget. like maybe $8,000 or so, and i still dont have the truck. but it would be a work in progress anyway. all info/help is welcome. thanks.
